For this year's artist research, the artist that really stands out to me is Susan Rothenberg. I chose this artist because her artwork is all about your memories in her life and the experiences she went through in her life. I personally only do art that makes sense to and has a meaning. there is one word that can truthfully describe her art work. that word would be 'Mystery' because Rothenberg's art work is incomplete, but at same time you can see the full image. Susan Rothenberg is an artist from 21st century and inspired by 2-dimensional figures. Rothenberg's art is known for incomplete form of a horses. Her most common colors are black, white, blue and gray. Rothenberg's work is very difficult to see when you just glance at it. But when you take your time to actually see the image; you'll that mystery horse. This is what I really like about her art is that it makes people actually take their time and fully see and understand her artwork. She makes her viewers to use their imagination as well. Which is a great way to interact with her viewers.
This is one of her artworks that made me to do an artist study an Rothenberg. I couldn't see a horse in that image until Mr. Guyer told us about the image. That is when I realized that this artist would be just like a mystery book to research. | This is the image that did as my profile picture in my sketchbook for Susan Rothenberg's research. Because I thought it was amazing how she makes her images so incomplete, but when you take your time and really look at the image you can see the full horse. |
